Chocolate Pecan Pie

This was a family favorite of ours. Mama would always make it during the holidays or very special occasions. For an easy trick use a pre-made pie dough crust. Hope you can share this with your family during the Holiday Season. Merry Christmas!

1 1/2 cups sugar

3 1/2 Tbsp. cocoa

Pinch of salt

1 Tbsp. flour

1 Tbsp. cornmeal

1/2 cup chopped pecans

3 eggs, beaten

1/2 cup milk

1 Tbsp. vanilla

3 Tbsp. butter, melted

1 pastry shell (pie crust)

Combine first six ingredients in a medium bowl and mix well.

Combine eggs, milk, vanilla and melted butter in a separate bowl.

Pour egg mixture into dry mixture and mix well.

Pour into a pastry shell and bake at 350 degrees for 45 to 50 minutes or until crust is set.

The pie will have a light crust on the top of it.

Finishing Option 1: Lightly sprinkle powdered sugar on top and chill for at least an hour.

Finishing Option 2 (and my personal favorite): Cover pie with whipped cream and let chill for at least an hour.

*If you like pecans, you can also add a chopped layer before or after you add the powdered sugar or whipped cream.
